Prevent Future Problems With a Comfortable Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are usually the last teeth to erupt. Even before wisdom teeth start causing problems, it’s likely that they may affect your dental health in the future if they aren’t removed.
Sometimes there is no room for wisdom teeth to erupt, this can result in them becoming impacted. A tooth may be partially or completely impacted. When a wisdom tooth is impacted, an onset of symptoms may occur, including pain, swelling, infection, jaw stiffness, and the possibility of damage to surrounding teeth.
In our practice, we make sure wisdom tooth removal is a comfortable, pain-free procedure. Wisdom teeth are easier to remove when the patient is younger, since their roots have not taken full maturity and form, the surrounding bone is softer, and there is less chance of damaging nearby nerves or other structures.
Removal of wisdom teeth at a later age becomes more complicated as the roots have fully developed (may involve the nerve), and the jawbone is denser. Also, early removal will ensure optimal and less complicated healing. For some patients, the wisdom teeth may erupt normally and will have proper alignment in the arch. In such instances, you can retain the the wisdom teeth with proper home care.
